I started working with clay because of my love for plants.

I really wanted beautiful pots but couldn’t find any I loved, so I decided to make my own. After taking only a few classes, I fell in love. The ability to create something from a ball of earth on my own terms, from start to finish, feeds my creativity.

No two items are exactly the same. Each ceramic piece is removed from a kiln with its own character.

Ceramic pottery, like many art forms, is a marriage between form and function. Defining the balance between beauty and practicality is a process applied to every piece I create. I believe creativity is not limited to one specific style, but instead it’s the relationship between many styles that provide cohesion.

I hope my work can bring as much joy to my customers as I feel when creating it.

My Home Studio

Most of my work is thrown on a potter’s wheel with white and dark stoneware clays. Some items are one of a kind, but others are made in small batches and are available for pre-order for the next batch.

Creating stoneware pottery is a very time-intensive process. A great amount of thought, care, and attention to detail has been put into each piece. When you sign up for my pottery class, you will learn that clay must be wedged, shaped, trimmed and/or carved, glazed, and fired in a kiln. Sometimes these steps are even repeated. Also, clay must dry slowly to prevent cracks during kiln firings. It can take 6 to 8 weeks on average to complete one item.
